\nI am not a scholar.
\nI am not even a good man.
\nI am a retired pastor.<\/p>\n
When I retired from full time pastoral work at the age of 68 I begin to reflect on the Church and Christianity.\u00a0 When I retired from from part time ministry at the age of 73, I began to reflect more.\u00a0 Some things bothered me.\u00a0 I guess the lesson is,\u00a0 you should pause along the way and reflect rather than simply being too busy and getting caught up with things as they are.<\/p>\n
If you see things differently from me that is fine.\u00a0\u00a0 Jesus may be leading you along a different path.\u00a0\u00a0 It is not that you are wrong and I am right.\u00a0 We see things differently. Peter, Paul and John all followed Jesus but they certainly went along different paths.<\/p>\n
I attend a great church and have a great pastor but I am not naive enough to think that all is well with the evangelical church in America.\u00a0 In fact there are several things that bother me about it.\u00a0 They will probably be reflected in these post.<\/p>\n
My background is Southern Baptist.\u00a0 Although I started in the Bible Belt I have been away from it for years.\u00a0\u00a0 That has given me a different perspective.\u00a0 I am reminded of how different when I return \u201chome\u201d and visit churches and talk to pastors and church leadership.<\/p>\n
I guess I could be called a DISCONTENTED CHRISTIAN.\u00a0 Not discontented with Jesus.\u00a0\u00a0 He has proven faithful.\u00a0\u00a0 But I am discontented with how we Americans express our faith and with the state of the institutional church.<\/p>\n
I think we could do better.\u00a0\u00a0 Think about it.\u00a0 You probably do also.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
