WHAT WAS IT?<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

My son and I were snorkeling on a beautiful Caribbean beach.<\/span><\/span><\/span>
\n<\/span><\/span><\/span>Beautiful water, fantastic coral. One problem! No fish!<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

There had always been lots of beautiful fish in the area before.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

At the end, where the beach met the jungle, was a huge rock, 10 or 15 feet high.\u00a0Flat on the side\u00a0facing us. It\u00a0extended\u00a0far out in the\u00a0water\u00a0as it disappeared under the sea.\u00a0Waves broke against it. I suggested that the waves should be bringing fish against the rock.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

We started following the rock as it went deeper. Still no fish.\u00a0My son\u00a0was a few kicks in front of me,\u00a0leading the way.\u00a0Suddenly, he spun around and started quickly\u00a0swimming\u00a0toward the shore. As he passed me, he grabbed my shoulder and spun me around. I followed him toward shore. As we reached shallow water and could stand, I asked, what is going on? What did you see? He said, as he continued toward shore, \u201cI\u2019m not sure, but it was bigger than\u00a0me\u201d.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

We left that beach.\u00a0We didn\u2019t go snorkeling there again.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

What was it? I have no idea. But whatever it was,\u200bit\u00a0placed a fear in us so that we did not want to find out.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Still don\u2019t know. Don\u2019t want to know. Call me chicken? You take a look.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Fear can stop us in our tracks. It can stop us from finding treasure or destruction. That time, it was not worth finding out<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Jesus said, \u201cFear not, I am with you\u201d.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\u00a0He also said, \u201cCount the cost\u201d. In my life, I have found that at times, some things are best left alone. Sometimes I have charged in and then wished I had not. Sometimes I have stood back, retreated, and wondered what would have been the outcome.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Thank\u00a0goodness we worship a God who is involved in our lives and our world. He helps us with our decisions and helps us reshape our lives even when we go wrong.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
